One of our guests’ favorite things to see when they’re staying in Slaton is the Texas Air Museum. The outdoor aviation museum houses a bunch of aircraft from various time periods. While some of the planes are no longer in working order, others are still flown today.
Let your knowledge of plane history soar at the exhibits depicting different stages of plane travel. If you time it right, you may get a chance to catch an air show this summer.
Who doesn’t love a refreshing dip in a lake in the summer heat? Lakes and rivers in arid western Texas are few and far between—that’s why Buffalo Springs Lake is one of the most popular places to chill.
While you can relax on the lakeshore and take the occasional swim, it can be more fun to take a boat on the water yourself. So long as you have a Texas boating permit, you’ll be able to take pontoon rentals out on the water from the marina. There’s also other watercraft (such as canoes, kayaks, paddleboards) that you can use on the lake for a small fee.
Bring your fishing pole and license, because the largemouth bass fishing here is beyond incredible. You can rent some of this equipment at the Lakeside Grocery or the Buffalo Bay Marina.
The shooting range is one of the most popular things to do in Texas. Whether you’re familiar with firearms or you want to get started on a new hobby, there are a few places you can give the shots a shot.
