After a day touring the many museums of Slaton, grab a glass of the ol’ grape and relax in the peaceful Texas plains. Wineries are increasingly popular in the Lone Star state, and the outskirts of Lubbock have a few that you visit without needing to drive too far. Drink in the Texas scenery and the fruit of the vine at these marvelous places.

Do you have a broad palate? Do you like tasting everything a winery has to offer? Engage your taste buds on a drink tour. See where the wine is made, and gaze from the patio at the beautiful view. You only need a reservation if you're bringing more than 6 people.
A selection of red, blush, and white wines (and more) will be available to taste. The drink selection of nearly every other winery in the area pales in comparison to what’s offered here.
Tours of the vineyard are a lot of fun, but they don’t happen too often—roughly two times a month. While reservations aren’t required if the tour has vacant spots, it’s recommended you call in early and plan around the open dates if this is the make-it-or-break-it activity of your vacation.
You’ll walk through the winemaking facility, learn the history of the winery and what inspired the creators to go all in on this dream, and taste wine straight from the barrel.
Guests looking for a rustic venue to hold their wedding may consider this winery. Take a look at the venue options and reserve your spot. Booking here will make your special event unforgettable.
If the wine here is the best thing you’ve ever tasted, you can become a member of the winery and get bottles mailed to you throughout the year. You’ll receive invites for parties, complimentary wine tastings throughout the year, and a case of wine shipped to you directly.

As one of the quieter wine tasting experiences in the valley, you’ll have more privacy in the cozy yet upscale tasting room. The tasting fee is $15 a person, and will include five 2-ounce pours for each guest. It’s a great way to sample many of the drinks available to you without buying a complete bottle of wine for each flavor.
If you’re more interested in learning about the wine-making process, then English Newsome Cellars is probably your best bet for a tour experience. While Llano only does these every other month, English Newsom Cellars holds them almost daily.
Drink wine straight from the barrel and ask the winemaker and grape grower directly about the process. It’s an enlightening experience for any novice wine drinker.
Are you planning a special day for someone, and think a wine trip would be the perfect way to celebrate? You can book private wine tours, dinners, and tastings if you reserve the place far enough in advance. Some guests even want to hold their wedding onsite. Send the winery an email and a representative should get back to you quickly.
